We were rehearsing with Ida yesterday in the wooden floored, “TV room,” on the main floor of the assisted living apartment building she lives in. Ida has an amazing eye for dance. She was watching Nancy balance in a front “attitude” (the front leg raised is bent). “Slowly arch your back,” she commanded. I moved beside Nancy, and she directed: “Do the opposite.” She sighed, I can’t do that anymore, but I love watching.” I said, “Ida you have a wonderful eye. I come here because I value your choreographic ideas. You have so much to give. We are your dance company.” Ida smiled. “Rehearsal again next week?” she asked.
