Today at ECC we delved into the Greek myth: Persephone and Demeter. The message of this myth is appropriate for elders. Each year we enter into the darkness and emerge into the light in Spring.
Our eldest elder Julia played Demeter. Wrapped in a colorful long silk scarf she was paraded around the circle in search of her daughter Persephone.
Anna, Sally and Bob swayed side to side as the pomegranate dancers. The remaining elders in the circle stomped their feet when Hades entered the circle. It was powerful to reenact this myth in community. It is timeless. We ended the story by creating a simple dance honoring the darkness and inviting in abundance for all.
